About Me

I'm happy, definitely blessed. I'm a bit of a firecracker and self-proclaimed free spirit. Those who know me best know that I'm genuine and sincere, mostly just tender hearted. Life has taken me places I didn't think existed (bad and good) in the last 26 years, but I trust that I am where I am for a very good reason- one that is much bigger than my narrow view of today.--------------------------------------I will always be sarcastic and quirky but I try to live in light. If you can't appreciate my idiosyncrasies then you likely will never get me. I believe strongly in God, love, family, and friends. I give myself to these things unconditionally and expect the same in return.----------------------------------------------- Things that get on my nerves: men that can't seem to grasp the concept of ending a relationship before starting another, broken promises, cats, folding fitted sheets, when sarcasm and SNL quotes go unnoticed, parents that don't make their kids read or study an art, lying, intolerance, bills, overzealous conservatives, overzealous liberals, drama (unless it's on a stage), infidelity, wedgies, and chipped finger nail polish. I have a strong aversion to the emotionally retarded.

Music:

Most unforgettable- Gary Stewart's 'Empty Glass'. Texas/Red Dirt Country (Bart Crow Band, Jason Boland, Mark David Manders, Cooder Graw, Stoney LaRue, REK, Reckless Kelly, Max Stalling, Hayes Carll, Wade Bowen, Brandon Rhyder, Micky and the Motorcars, Bleu Edmondson, Randy Rogers, and many more). I also love the classics (Cash, Jones, Haggard, Willie, Jennings, Cline, etc). I love James Taylor, Eric Clapton, late cuts from the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding. 40's Big Band and jazz. There is little in the way of music that I don't understand, relate to, or find pleasure or pain in. Of course I also like melodic ballads that allow for interpretation through dance (and good booty music). I refuse to admit to some of the other songs I sing when listening to the radio alone in my car. I will always love the old gospel music and hymns we sang as kids...

Movies:

I love movies that don't end how I expect them to. Always enjoy the proverbial dark "based on the true story of..." Movies made by brothers seem to appeal to me (e.g., the Coen brothers, the Farrelly brothers, the Wilson brothers...)Also, anything with Will Farrell(including his shorts and excluding Stranger Than Fiction), dance movies, John Hughes movies, saw Superbad a month ago--CHICKA CHICKA YEAH... Television:

I Love Lucy,SATC--for obvious reasons, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, SNL...usually episodes from the '90s. I love biographies and docs, 20/20, 48 hours, and lots of other programs that have numbers in their names and precede the local news.

Books:

I will read just about anything. I really enjoy biographies and memoirs. I always have two books on my nightstand: something enlightening and something entertaining.

Heroes:

Easy--MY MOM, if you knew her she would be your hero, too. She looks adversity in the face then bitch slaps it. (My sister's name is adversity). Seriously, though, she's incredible. Regardless of how confusing what we're fighting for ever is, I'm always grateful for our military. I'm also grateful for the strength I saw in my grandmothers during their battles with cancer and my granddaddy's against Alzheimer's...

Self-actualization

I've come to terms with the fact that another girl will never look at me and say, "skinny bitch", but some of the skinny bitches will look at me and at times wonder "are those real?". I'm okay wi...

Never imagined it would be this hard....

If you know me you know how much I value my family. If you don't know me, just hang around me five minutes and you'll understand. I knew that losing my granddaddy would be difficult, but nev...

I can't believe it's been almost two months since I lost Sugar. I gave it a shot with another dog (Titan) and sadly it didn't work out...he too was ill and apartment living wasn't right for him. I fee...

Week One

This week started out very diffcult. I was inconsolable for three days. I have gained more and more peace with each day. I find myself crying less and feeling much better knowing what I did was right....
