VinLawdin and the Caliband was co-founded by (vocals/front man) Vinny "VinLawdin" Lombardi and (bass/vocals) Ian "Ian G" Gleason. After a year of extensive writing and conceptualizing, the two decided to bring in fellow musicians (drums/vocals) Kenny "K-shy" Rogers, and (guitar/vocals) Aaron "Twist" Borowitz in December 2003.

VinLawdin and the Caliband feature’s the eccentric personalities and different musical backgrounds of four individuals that led to form a unique style of music, which the group calls Rip-Hop. Rip-Hop is a combination of hip-hop, rock, funk, and punk. They are often referred to as Rage Against the Machine meets the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The music is fueled by the raw, shear driving force of Twist's rhythm guitar, and the massive energy he exudes on and off stage. The guitar is backed by the solid, yet intricate (rock/hip hop) beats generated by drummer, K-shy, and the strong, funky, and often crushing bass lines of Ian G. "These two are the back bone of our music" says Vinny. The vocals are led by front man, VinLawdin; his witty and rugged Nor Cal hip-hop writing style, tied together with the band's rock/funk sound, allow this band the versatility to reach even the most eclectic audiences. Vinny's on stage persona and humorous antics, along with the entire group's charismatic live performances have always ensured an incredible show filled with huge ballad-like choruses, catchy melodies, and thought provoking verses that kept fans singing...even in their sleep.

Before even releasing their first album, the VinLawdin and the Caliband entered the 2005 Battle of the Bands at The Pound in San Francisco, CA.

The band was met with incredible competition, and although paired against numerous other bands with obvious talent, crowd appeal, and some with more experience than their own; the four All-American boys emerged victorious, delivering a triumphant performance. The hands down victory, and crowd's enthusiasm inspired rave reviews and endorsement offers.

Motivated by their success and driven by their passion for music, the group went on to produce their debut album, "American Made" in March 2005. Their freshman effort, however crude and unrefined, was well received by partiers and bar goers, as it was a refreshing "in your face" look into the Nor Cal lifestyle. The album contained powerful driving rhythms and insane off the walls raps; the catchy, sometimes shocking choruses, and political satire pushed the envelope making the band, yet again, a crowd favorite.

In late 2006, VinLawdin and the Caliband went back into the studio to write their sophomore album, "Lord of War", a more mature musical endeavor intended to reveal the diversity, intensity, and life experience of each band member. The album constructed, focuses more on the band's musical talent and vocal abilities, and less on shock value of "American Made". While producing their second album the band took the time to develop music that showcases each member's individual skills and personalities. The final product was an immediate success; incredibly well written, it demonstrates the band's ability to make their diverse sounds co-exist on one LP and delivers a seamless experience that any fan of music would love.

As the band has matured, their music has by grown immeasurably and is evident in their CD sales, web hits, and general fan base. "Lord of War" proves that this band truly has the talent and drive to make it all the way to the top.
