Create your own Friend Quiz hereAfter graduating from MCHS in 1993, I attended JJC where I received my Associates Degree. At JJC I played 1 year of Girls Basketball for the Wolves. While maintaining school, night classes and a fast food job, I had to let the basketball go. (and also becuase I had been playing for eleven years I worked at Bright Ideas Day Care Center in Morris as a floating teacher for the summers. I also was Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Saratoga Grade School in Morris. I had the opportunity to work with 6, 7, and 8th graders, as well as monitor the lunch room and playground. Soon after I went off to Charleston to Eastern Illinois to continue on my education. I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of wonderful people. During the last summer of college I meet Ed while buying a cell phone.I did my student teaching here in Minooka in a second grade classroom with Mrs. Driver. I had a blast and I could not have asked for a better classroom. Only after four months of dating, Sweetest Day weekend Ed proposed and a June Wedding was in the works. I then graduated with a Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology. I went back to Bright Ideas until they closed in May. Soon after I was doing an After School Program with Junior High Students at MVK (Mazon Verona Kinsmen) in Mazon and I also subbed and taught 5th grade P.E. At night I was the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at USF (University of St. Francis in Joliet). After my contracts were up with both jobs I took some time to relax and after dealing with all types of age groups I needed to figure out which ages I liked the best.Ed and I were married on June 16, 2001 in Dwight at the Country Mansion. We had an outside wedding with just a touch of sprinkles and enough wind to make lighting the candles tricky. Chub, Dessett, Rink, Baily, and Ford (all friends) were there for Ed. Dina (sister), Jen (sister-in-law), Cindy (sorority sister), Rachel (long time friend) and Michelle (college friend) were there for me. Along with Michelle to hand out stuff, Krista reading a poem from the groom, while Amy sang during the ceremony and the father-daughter dance. All went well it was an awesome night with a honeymoon to California and Hawii to follow!Taylor Marie Pratt was delivered by Dr. Viene at Morris Hospital at 4:20 p.m. on December 3, 2001. Her middle name comes from my name.
Cool SlideshowsFive months later while working at Kim’s Day Care in Joliet, I flipped and rolled my car on I-80 near Minooka. Only 15 stitches ! I had decided then that I wanted to stay working with the younger children. I loved working at Kim’s but an opportunity to use my Degree came around and I wanted to advance in my career, so I went to work for Children’s Crossing as a Director.Nicole Ilean Pratt was delivered by Dr. Roth at Morris at 2:10 p.m. on March 18, 2004. Ilean was my dad's mothers name, as well as Ed’s dad's mothers name. Both grandmas had spelled their names differently so we choose a different spelling for Nicki. Dr. Roth is also the doctor who had delivered me some 20 years ago!
Cool SlideshowsReturning back to work with both my children in tow, I was offered a chance to buy Children’s Crossing from Thompson Inc. Getting together with my husband (manager experience with Nextel corp.) myself (knowing dcfs rules and teaching children) and my father-in-law (financial backer) we collectively decided to purchase the day care in May of 2004. www.childrenscrossinglearningcenter.com has more information about staff members and our program.Kyle Edward Pratt was delivered by Dr. K at Morris Hospital at 6:20 p.m. on November 22, 2005. His middle name was taken from grandfathers on both sides as well as Ed's name.
