I am here for Friends

About Me

Random Things About Me...
..I'm a people pleaser. I hate having people mad at me.
I have a good, solid, happy marriage that hasn't always been easy. We have been through everything from my brother's death, Bryan's parents' divorce, my cancer and Brett's autism diagnosis within 2 weeks of each other, and for those of you who know me well, you know there have been a few more major issues we have gone through as well. While it hasn't always been easy, it's been worth it. We are at a good place in our lives right now, and really enjoy being together. Sure, we have our share of arguments, but who doesn't? We both have often said that we are in this together, we've been through so much crap together, that we can make it through anything, and we both "get" each other.
Most of the time, I care WAY too much what people think.
I hate conflict & confrontations, even when I'm not involved in them.
I truly believe in the whole "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" thing.
I am still friends (or friendly) with my ex-boyfriends. I don't hold grudges, even against those who have really hurt me in the past.
I look at my past relationships as building blocks that got me to where I am today.
I believe that everyone makes mistakes, and deserves a second chance.
I cannot dance at all! Nope, no rhythm whatsoever! In fact, I don't even pretend I can dance. When it comes to dancing, I just say NO!
I am in no way, shape or form a "girlie girl".
Along those lines, when I was younger, I was quite the tomboy. I loved catching frogs, playing football with my brother, and getting dirty.
I am a fashion nightmare! I have NO fashion sense whatsoever. If an outfit is not put together for me, forget it...I'm at a loss.
I hate shoes. Most females love shoes. Not me. Yet another thing to agonize over when getting dressed.
That being said, I'm most comfortable in gym shoes, jeans and hoodies, sweats, sweatshirts and T-shirts. Occassionally I like to get dressed up and wear makeup, but that's the exception, not the rule.
I am not lucky enough to have any artistic or musical talents. However, I do feel VERY lucky to have the ability to find something positive in just about every situation, no matter how negative the situation may be.

I have the WORST memory in the world. I was tickled pink to find out that that could possibly be caused by the chemo I had when I was going through my breast cancer treatment! I'm not just a lame-brain after all!!
I'm so disorganized, it's pathetic! A common phrase from me..."Wait, I know it's in this pile here somewhere! Or maybe I put it in a drawer..."
I'm also a BIG procrastinator! I live by the phrase "Why do today what I can put off until tomorrow?" (Other people would probably call that being lazy!)
I'm REALLY bad about answering the phone, and returning phone calls. In fact, I hate talking on the phone for the most part.
I don't text...Ashley does more than enough texting for the whole family!
While I haven't always been happy with myself, and at times I still wish some things about me were different, for the most part, I've learned to accept who am I, and I really like me!I LOVE...
White Sox Baseball, especially AJ Pierzynski. Which I find that to be really odd, since he is hated by everyone, and I hate confrontation so much. You'd think I'd like someone more well-liked. Yet, there's something about him...his ability to make things happen in the game of baseball. It doesn't hurt that I think he's cute too! I've also come to love two of the Sox newest players, Carlos Quentin and Nick Swisher

Nick Lachey. What a hottie, what a voice, what an all around good Midwestern guy! Can't wait til he releases his next CD!

Snoopy!

Puppy Dogs! I hate that I am allergic to most dogs, but I suffer through my allergies to show them love!

Being friends with Ross & Judy. It has been a long time since I've been able to hang out with my old friends, since that requires jumping in a car to go visit. With Ross & Judy being across the street, we can take 5 mins out of the day to just stand on the curb and chit chat, or run over and hang out for a few hours in the evening. They have been great neighbors and great friends! And they have the CUTEST little boys!

My online friends. Two of my very best friends in the world are my friends from the internet. We've known each other 10+ years, yet I've never met either of them in person, although we have talked on the phone. The two of them know just as much, if not more, about me than anyone else. Life has been busy for us lately though, and I don't get to talk with either of them as frequently as we had in the past. I really miss those chats so much!

My ex-sister-in-law...both of them in fact. I hate that I know them through the doofus they married, but at least they were both smart enough to get out!

Pizza!

Diet Dr. Pepper.

Ice Cold Miller Lite in a bottle. Not on tap, not in a can, gotta be in a bottle (can you say "PICKY"?)

Watching Ashley compete in soccer, basketball, track. Thank God she got Bryan's athletic ability, and not my lack of the same. She's really good. If she practiced on her own, she could be great, but she's happy settling for being good. While that drives Bryan nuts, I'm okay with that. I know she's got more to her life than the sports, and her life is so cluttered up with homework, practices, helping out with Brett, etc, I know she needs time to veg, and also hang with her friends. Unfortunately, she really doesn't have much time to practice on her own.

Going to the beach. My dream house would be on a beach. Unfortunately, Bryan hates the beach (sand mainly)!

Toys! I should still be a kid. But at least I have my Ebay business, so I still get to play with toys I think are cool (cuz someone has to try them out to make sure they work!)

Watching others dance. I am in awe of people who can dance, and do so really well.

Funny TV/Movies. Some of my favorite shows are the reruns of "Two and a Half Men", Everybody Loves Raymond", "Will & Grace", "Friends". Can you tell I stay up late to watch TV? I have also recently become a big HGTV fan! Favorite Movies are "American Pie" series, "Tommy Boy", "Big Daddy", "Dodge Ball", "Kicking and Screaming", "Elf" and I'm sure I'd have more recent favorites if I ever actually watched movies. There are so many that I want to see that I haven't!I'm also a reality tv show junkie! Most things on MTV and VH1, since you can catch the reruns of those all the time. I also recently became hooked on Big Brother again, and can't wait til the next season July 18!

80s Music. I really like so many different types of music, but listening to 80's music brings me back to a simpler time in my life, high school & the years after, and brings back a lot of good memories!

Taking pictures. I am a picture taking freak! Everyone rolls their eyes at me when I pull out the camera, but you know what? Everyone loves looking back at the pictures months later!

Nature. Storms, clouds, sunsets... I love almost all things nature/weather related

I love how White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen wears Autism Awareness hats during his post game interviews. Makes me even prouder to be a White Sox fan!Layout made by

My Interests

My son Brett, who is 8 years old, was diagnosed with autism when he was two. While he has difficulties with communication, he is a wonderful little boy, who has an amazing way of getting his point across when he wants something. To learn more about Brett and the autism spectrum, please add the myspace page I have for him, All About Brett. He is number one on my top friends... ..

SHELLEY

Shelley is one of the most beautiful people I know, both inside and out. We met in a beanie baby chat room, over 10 years ago. We became fast friends, and as we got to know each other, we realized how much we have in common. She has helped me through some very trying times, and she's one of the people that I know I can turn to ANY TIME I need ANYTHING!
JD (with his wife in pic)
JD is another online friend that I don't know what I'd do without. Met him 10 years ago on a chat board, again, over a beanie question! (While that beanie craze didn't make me a fortune in money, it made me very rich as far as friends go!!) This is one person that I could share anything with, all of my problems, concerns, secrets, questions. He never judges me, and ALWAYS gives me good advice. One of my wishes in life is to just be able to get together with him and his wife one day and play a game of darts (I will soooo lose), and have a beer together. Hoping one day that wish comes true!!
JENNIFFER (yes, I spelled that right!)
Bryan calls her my "Jenna-friend", and she is Brett's godmother. I have known Jenniffer since she was 17 & I was 20. She was the high school kid who worked with us at the bank. We weren't friends at first (I thought she was flirting with my boyfriend!!), but within a few years, she became my best friend. Our bond grew even closer, as our firstborn children were born within three months of each other. Since she got married in 1991, she has moved several times, none of those places close by me unfortunately, and we don't get to talk or visit too often anymore, but when we do get together, we are able to pick up right where we left off. I miss her so much!
TRISH
Wow, looking back at how we met, I realize that we've known each other for nine years already!! Trish was brought into my life by my brother-in-law, on April 15, 1999. I was doing taxes, frustrated beyond belief, and NOT happy that my BIL decided to bring his new girlfriend over to introduce us at that particular time. Not to mention, I was also pregnant with Brett! To top it all off, I've never been particularly fond of that brother-in-law. Needless to say, Trish's first impression of me was that I was not a very nice person!! Thank God she got past that first impression!! Even though I warned her, she still ended up marrying the BIL, but I got a niece and a good friend out of the deal. Fast forwarded to a few years later, where she came to her senses, and now is a single mom, and we are still good friends! Now, if only I could get her to move back here from Colorado!
DORETTE
Funny thing about Dorette...we went to high school together, but were never quite friends. It's not that we didn't like each other, we just didn't know each other. About five years back, I had paid for a classmates.com account, and told my friend Brian that if he wanted me to contact anyone and give them his email address, I would. Well, that someone was Dorette. After sending her an email telling her that Brian wanted to get in touch with her, she and I stayed in touch, and she became somewhat of an Ebay business partner!! She lives in Texas, and started selling on Ebay shortly after I did. We'd let each other know what the hot selling toys were, and where they could be located. We were also able to complain to each other about some of the ebay quacks we came in contact with! Since she's originally from around here, we got to get together with the kids for a few hours a couple of years ago when she was in to visit family, and then again, for our high school reunion, we were able to spend time together! She just recently informed me that they are selling their house in Texas, and moving closer this way, only an hour from here!! Can't wait until that finally takes place, and we can start hanging out more frequently!
LAURIE
Laurie was one of the first people to request me as a friend when I joined myspace this time around. In fact, I'm pretty sure she was the first! If it weren't for Laurie, I might not still even be on myspace. I had opened a myspace account about a year prior to having this account. I had nothing but weirdos trying to be my friends, and other than Shelley, I knew nobody on here, so I deleted my account. Then, a year later, when JD joined myspace, I thought I'd give it a try again. When Laurie added me, and I got to know her, I realized that there really were good "strangers" out there on myspace, people worth knowing! So thanks to Laurie, I got to know many wonderful people!
JUDY/JUBY
Then there's Judy, aka Juby after a few beers! She lives across the street from me, and after one flood-y day where we commiserated about our wet basements together, we became fast friends! She and her hubby Ross made it possible for me & Bryan to have fun nights out together again, even if our night out is just across the street at their house!
MY FELLOW AUTIE MOMMIES!
While I love and appreciate all of my myspace friends, I feel such a connection with these four! I've learned so much from these guys. I could easily see myself hanging out with any one of them, and having a great time!!~ Hope you guys don't mind that I "borrowed" your pictures! ~

My son Brett, for facing each difficult day with a smile, and trying so hard to learn something new every day. Also for teaching me something new everyday.

My daughter Ashley, who was seven years old when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and Brett was diagnosed with autism. While living in a house of upheaval at such a young age, where she wasn't always able to get the attention a seven year old deserves, she managed to mature into a wonderful, selfless, well rounded teen. Oh, she has her moments, as all teens do, but I am very proud to call her my daughter.

My parents, without a doubt, for showing me how to pick up pieces and move on with a smile on your face when things don't go as planned.

My brother, for paying the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his community...
