Coming of age as a musician in northern Michigan, Alex James Karpicke has thoughtfully crafted his niche and cultivated a sound for himself through the influences the land and the people of the region have offered.
Hailing from the same area that gave rise to notable folk acts such as Seth Bernard, Daisy May, Rachel Davis and Luke Winslow-King, Alex James Karpicke was constantly surrounded by influential music. His music follows in those steps, building something distinctive and authentic. His unique musical style and poetic musings put an individual in mind of the lush, natural beauty Michigan has to offer. Singing about days spent indoors with old vinyl records, roaming packs of wolves, and families who have nothing but one another, you can nearly taste the sweet air of spring and feel the brisk autumn winds of the picturesque Michigan he sings about.
