About Me

....Anika Nicole is quickly emerging on the scene in the world of entertainment with her many talents. Her primary passion is entertainment reporting, but life has taken her down many paths of the entertainment industry such as modeling, acting and behind the scenes editing and producing. While attending the University of Maryland, Anika majored in Communications. She worked as a Production Assistant for Depasse Entertainment, which led her to “Showtime at the Apollo”. Unlike the many people that pass through the doors of the legendary Apollo Theater with the hopes of being discovered, Anika wanted to learn the ins and outs of the business. She traveled back and forth from Maryland to New York for years balancing her school work and working at the Apollo. Although it was hard, she was up for the challenge because this is where she was meant to be. With her strong work ethics and energetic personality, Anika was able to meet people that would help her to the next level. In her senior year of college, with a heavy class load and a part-time job, she added two internships to her schedule. Anika interned as an assistant for well renowned DJ Sixth Sense, which led to a job as an Entertainment News Correspondent for his website. She also interned for the nationally syndicated morning radio show, “Russ Parr Morning Show” of Radio One. There she learned and practiced editing and broadcasting skills, but knew that she ultimately wanted to be in front of the camera. After graduating from college with a BA in Communications, New York would call her to work again. Anika auditioned for a cable show called “What’z Up New York” and she landed the job as one of their host. As a host, Anika interviewed such artist as Beenie Man, Foxy Brown, Cappleton and many others. While working with the show, she traveled internationally to represent the show and host multiple events. She continues to work as a host for the show. With her versatile personality, Anika was cast as a VJ for another cable show with Turner Music Television in the Baltimore area called “Power Music” and was featured on their website. While working with Turner Music, she expanded on her entertainment reporting skills and hosted a top five music video count down. Interviewing stars like LL Cool J, Debra Lee, Jim Jones, B5, Brooke Valentine, Souljah Boy and Pretty Ricky continued to help build her resume.Currently, Anika is starting to expand her repertoire experience and learn more behind the scenes skills, like camera operating and editing, with goals to do more independent projects. She continues to model and was featured in DC Sexy Magazine and Provoke Online Magazine. With the launch of her official website, Anika will now be able to combine her broadcasting, producing, editing, writing, and camera skills to produce a weekly entertainment news segment on her site.A native of Jamaica, Anika grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and always enjoyed staying busy as a child with many years of dance, gymnastics and the violin. Anika got her first break with an independent project she worked on with DJ Sixth Sense, which involved interviewing Jadakiss. If you live in the New York area, check her out on What'z Up New York every Sunday night at 7:30 on ch.73.

COUNTDOWNCLOCK

Music:

I love all types of music, even country music. Yes, I said country music. I love the Dixie Chicks and LeAnn Rimes. Country music expresses raw emotion and real life. But as a Jamaican I love Reggae music not just dancehall, but roots reggae that you don't hear on the radio and old school reggae that my grandparents danced around the family room to. It's in my soul and blood and I love it. Of course I love hip-hop and rap, but not the BS I need substance, ya feel me.

Movies:

My favorite movies include:1. Dirty Dancing 2. Legend of the Falls 3. Pretty Woman 4. Grease 5. Color Purple 6. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Television:

I like to watch House, America's Next Top Model, the History channel, the Discovery channel, the Simpsons and of course What'z Up New York.
