I haven't read anything in a long time... I've been trying to write my own novel... yeah, still haven't finished it but lately I've been working on some short stories and poetry.
I truely admired my DAD, during my years with him, (that seem so few now) he always made sure I had shoes on my feet, and food on the table. He taught me how to build, to fish, to garden, and to stand up for what was right. The man was hard on me at times... and for good reason. I look back on those days now and wouldn't have it any other way. He came from an era when a mans hand shake and his word meant something. These are the elements that define a true super hero... a real man. There was only one other man that fits this catagory... My grandpa Gilbert. He was a man that could turn a nickel found on the street into a dollar before he got home. Gilbert was crafty as they came in his day and you would think he was the God of Vulcan when you see him wield his cutting torch and force steel to bend to his will. Gilbert had a commanding presence wherever he went and was a "take charge" kind of guy... and everyone wanted to hear what he had to say. He made everyday an adventure for me and I never grew tired of seeing that white haired old fella or listening to his stories. I hope I can be half of what these men were and can pass thier stories and teachings on to my children.
