Hemingway's Son

So quick bright things come to confusion...

About Me

My name is Darren and im a junior in college. I am an English Major looking to be a teacher and possibly a novelist. I am basically a really laid back person who enjoys spending time with friends and family and I am pretty content doing anything for a night out. I have some pretty close friends that ive known since high school... you all know who you are, and they mean a lot to me. I find that i dont really need money material stuff has never been important to me, I mean im going to be a teacher right? Who needs money? lol. They dont make that much. lol. I find that a teacher can be one of the most inspiring people in a persons life, so id like to try and be that kind of inspiring ideal. I enjoy writing... but do i have time to write? meh... with school in session not so much but other then that i do have a few projects going. I am interested in meeting new people so email me if you want. As long as you arent the kind of person to just add friends just to add friends. lol. Yup. Thats me.

My Interests

I love to write! I try and write mostly fiction but i have dabbled in poetry. I'm no Robert Frost or Walt Whittman but i try. I like books, hanging with friends, school , watching good movies, learning, good conversation, and well just having a good time.I am interested in the fight againsts AIDS and Poverty in Africa and other third world countries eventually i will join the peace corp after college to help educate the natives lol. if you are also interested in joining the fight against these deadly situations please click on the links belowwww.one.org

I'd like to meet:

An intelligent girl. a girl who knows what she wants and says what she means. A girl who is straight with me even though it is difficult to say. One who knows how a relationship should be and expects it when she goes into one. A smart and funny girl who has a good sense of humor but knows when to be serious. I want a girl who is interesting in her own right, but also cares about things that are important. Not like the new reality tv show or what happened on the OC the night before(just an example). Id like someone that i can actually talk to, to sit down and have a conversation with. Talk about the world, politics, money, life, philosophy, religion and perhaps literature. I dont neccesarily want someone exactly like me, because that would be boring, if we disagreed on things, i think it would be great because we can learn and challenge each other. To sum it up, a smart girl who is fun and isnt afraid of being herself.

Music:

I pretty much like everything. Im not into hardcore gangster rap but r&b and something with a good beat is always nice. I could name all the bands i like but that would take up a lot of space. I guess the genres of music would be country, rock, hip hop r&b, indie, alternative. Anything i can relate to i like.

Movies:

TRAINING DAY, GODFATHER FILMS, GOODFELLAS, CASINO, SPIDERMAN, X-MEN, MATRIX FILMS, MOMENTO,GANGS OF NEW YORK, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, LORD OF THE RINGS, ENEMY AT THE GATES, GLADIATOR, AND MY FAVORITE OUTOF ALL OF THEM: DIE HARD!!!!!

Television:

I dont get to watch a lot of tv anymore im too busy with everything else. When i do get a chance to watch tv i like Family Guy, Simpsons, 24, The Daily Show, Hardball, and whatever else that is educational or intelligently interesting.

Books:

Everything! War novels, then classics, Faulkner, Steinbeck, Hemingway. Tolkein, Fitzgerald, Poe, Joyce. I really enjoy Modern writers. for those of you who dont know Modern is roughly 20th century I read some poetry as well like Frost, Kippling, Gaspar, Whitman, etc. Also i have an extensive collection of American History and Literature books.

Heroes:

My father. Lance Armstrong. Mark Hankinson, and Anthony Starros, Frank X. Gaspar, Ernest Hemingway.
