Hailing from an Island on the map that's unrecognizable to the untrained eye, somewhere close to Puerto Rico where the beaches are beautiful, the weather is hot year round, and is considered Americas Paradise, we'd like to introduce to you an artist, a hip-hop artist unlike any other; KHALID aka BLOOD. Its hard for you to notice when you hear the voice and flow, that KHALID (deLagarde) aka BLOOD, was born and raised on St. Thomas, USVI. An island where Calypso and Reggae are the more dominant music genres of its culture. Somewhere in the middle as in any other culture, was the influence of that music that speaks from the streets, its past, its struggles, its heart and its soul. Born in '79, the Blood now 26, has been spitting back exactly what his little island instilled in him for the last 10 years and its not all about beaches and fun in the sun. Just ask anyone who really knows about the island and the others surrounding it. The hood is everywhere and to get what you want sometimes you got to take it and that's exactly what he did for a minute. After going head to head with "Johnny Law" and coming out unscarred, he chose to refocus his energy and grip the mic more often than his old tools of choice. Listen to Get It on the Game Over project and you'll hear that stickup kid in him from when he was younger. Or listen to Always The Good Ones featuring Rebel Relz (FGM), where he paints a sad but all too common picture of reminiscing on a lost loved one. He displays his versatility and storytelling ability on the Agallah (Purple City) produced track, Oni from OT. From performing onstage with Wu affiliate Cappadonna when he was 18, to being the opening act at a Juvenile concert, to more recently being featured on the compilation album, DREDDY KRUGER PRESENTS:THINK DIFFERENTLY MUSIC: WU-TANG MEETS THE INDIE CULTURE, its evident that the Blood will be moving through an artery near you in the near future.
