To think about a real experience in the town of Benicàssim is to think about FIB Heineken. This synaesthesia is formed by the addition of summer + beach + live music + nine days of free camping and has established itself throughout the years until it has become a can't-be-missed summer event in Spain for all of those who are into listening to, dancing to and enjoying pop, rock and electronic music.
As a matter of fact, FIB Heineken is one of the pioneers when it comes to music festivals in Spain and has achieved recognition from both national and international media as one of the most important festivals to be held in Spain and one of the most outstanding ones in Europe thanks to a consistent billing and its sights set on both independent music and culture.
Many artists have graced our main stage (Escenario Verde), such as Radiohead, Björk, The Cure, Massive Attack, Suede, Blur, Primal Scream, Pulp, Sonic Youth, Kraftwerk, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp,, The Chemical Brothers, Pet Shop Boys and The Jesus & Mary Chain. But this space is complemented by no less than three other stages on which many renowned artists have performed: Pizzicato Five, Dominique A, Laika, Broadcast, Tortoise, Arab Strap, The Delgados, Lambchop, Saint Etienne, Moloko, Low, Suicide, Calexico, Daniel Johnston, Perry Blake, Richard Hawley and DJ Shadow, to name but a few. Besides, theme nights were held in the FIB Club. They were devoted to showcasing A-list electronic labels: Mute, Ersatz Audio, Rephlex, International Deejay Gigolo, Karaoke Kalk, Monika Enterprise, Morr Music and Kompakt. The Pista Pop is the ideal spot to dance to the best pop DJ's till dawn. Its turntables have witnessed the likes of Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey to Death in Vegas's Richard Fearless to Elastica's Justin Frischmann.
One of FIB Heineken's greatest assets is discovering new talent in the field of independent culture. That is why "Demo Project" was created in 2001 – a contest for up-and-coming bands, and one of the prizes is performing live at the Festival.
We could perhaps say all of the above is everything FIB Heineken is about, but it is actually much more. We could talk about what it is, the artists performing, its activities, but all of this could never equal the stories that someone who has experienced it might tell you about it. From their words come both our reward and our challenge. Nevertheless, we invite you to start discovering it all at this website. We hope to see you in Benicàssim!
