More about Rettstatt
I am a: male, father of mighty twin girls (see above)
Interested In: stories
Age: 35
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States
Occupation: Children's book writer who wishes he was a linguist. I work for a children's entertainment company as a writer of children's stories. I am currently writing a fantasy book series for young adults. My previous career was as a specialist in safe online community for kids.
Religion: give more than you take
Star Sign: ram (western) and mouse (eastern)
Relationship Status: Taken
Last great book I read:
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke.
Most humbling moment:
The first time I stood in front of my first English class in China, realizing I didn't know a thing about teaching.
Best (or worst) lie I've ever told:
'I don't need you. I don't need anything except this (picks up the ashtray) and that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game...'
If I could be anywhere at the moment:
The Himalayas, with a camera, a flute, a notebook and a pen. And my big black hat. Sunglasses. It's bright up there. And a bottle of water. I don't know how to play the flute, so throw in a flute teacher. A cute one. And give her a bottle of water, too.
The five items I can't live without:
Pen, paper, water, food and shelter.
I would exchange shelter for a nice ocean view, water for good wine, and food for good conversation. But I gotta have my pen and paper.
WHY YOU SHOULD GET TO KNOW ME
Because I know what it's all about, and it ain't the hokey pokey
Because I can sing the Prologue to the Canterburry Tales, in Middle English, to the tune of the Brady Bunch.
