DISCEMI
In 1978 Jori Hulkkonen and Tuomas Salmela met in the small industrial city of Kemi in Northern Finland. Now in 2007 they re-invent themselves once more, now as Discemi. What's going on?
You may know Jori Hulkkonen from his increasingly versatile albums on French label F communications, the first out already in 1996. Or you might've heard his chart busting duet with Tiga, Sunglasses At Night. Or maybe you know his remixes for the likes of Goldfrapp, Cabaret Voltaire, José Gonzalès or 50+ other artists. Or you may have just heard him DJ in any part of the world in the last 10 years.
Tuomas Salmela you may be familiar with as Phonogenic, and his slammin releases on 20:20 vision. Or Guidance perhaps. Maybe Moodmusic, Dance Electric, or Kickboxer. Well, howabout his own new label then, Phonogenic Audio, one of the coolest new labels to come out of Scandinavia since Svek.
But surely you know the boys from their previous work, as Step Time Orchestra, who rocked the funky house world in the late 90's with releases on labels such as Vinyl Peace, Stickman, and Lumi. Or their genre defining Adult Oriented Electro act, Fancy Robots, on the legendary Sähkö label. As Junko '73 they took deephouse just a few metres deeper than their peers.
Well, now they decided the time is ripe for another worldwide invasion...
2007 has already seen fresh Phonogenic releases on labels like Moodmusic and Kickboxer, and Jori's new pseudonym Fenno-Baron is burning the floors with a hot 4-tracker on Turbo.
As DISCEMI they take their groove experteaze and soundscaping professionalism to a next level, as it already has been witnessed on their last years release on hot German label Get Physical Music. And now it's "invasion England"-time...
