LAILA DIALLO -
After dancing for 8 years with Wayne McGregor's Random Dance, Laïla in recent years came to prominence as a choreographer. Her work includes the solos waiting fleeing and The Wayside and the duet Between the Shingle and the Dune, with Theo Clinkard. Credits for theatre and opera include Dido and Aeneas (La Scala, Milan and Royal Opera House) and Acis and Galatea (Royal Opera House) as Assistant Director and Choreographer; Movement Direction for All's Well That Ends Well, Therese Raquin (National Theatre, London) and Days of Significance (Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford upon Avon); Choreography for Prokofiev's War and Peace (Canadian Opera Company, Toronto), Coward's The Vortex (Theatre Royal windsor) and Ibsen's A Doll's House (Theatre Royal Bath). Laïla was awarded a Rayne Fellowship for Choreographers in May 2006. She will be a Associate Artist at the Royal Opera House from September this year.
Following acclaimed performances in Paris and Quebec City earlier this year, Sense of Self, duet co-created and performed with Montreal based choreographer Mélanie Demers, is due to return to the UK this Autumn. Watch this space in the next few weeks our full tour schedule!
