BEFORE ORELIA HAS ORCHESTRA drove to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams... she was born in DC, and raised in Germantown, Maryland amongst a family of singers, musicians, dancers, and actors; Her first performance was in her 3rd grade Christmas concert; Orelia recalls, It was nervous for me because I had only one week to learn the song, White Christmas. Her seemingly effortless performance laid the foundation for a peer fan base that would request recess performances daily. With the passion to become a musical icon, Orelia would accept every opportunity to perform. At thirteen years old, for the first time Orelia would have to sing outside of school, at a womens charity event. Singing her rendition of Bette Middlers classic, Wind Beneath My Wings, Orelia brought the audience to their feet. This stellar performance led to an invitation to join a talented local singing group. It took some adjusting to adapt to the circumstances and pressure of being solely responsible for her success. Hungry to find her musical niche, she began writing her own songs with no outside interference. This created another hurdle because finding production was very hard due to her sound, which was so unique and unconventional. Gaining influence from different cultures around the world, Orelias music became a blend of many different styles and genres. She is strongly influenced by Sade, Gypsy Kings, Nelly Furtado, Nina Simone, and Marvin Gaye. Orelia moved from the North to Atlanta because this city was exploding and becoming a musical Mecca of the south. While in Atlanta, Orelia networked and was able to meet numerous successful Industry producers and artists. She began receiving loads of production as many producers were very eager to be a part of her project. With the desire to become a true musician, Orelia has also learned to play the guitar. She is a destined star and is preparing to shock the Industry. Her natural beauty, radiant personality, and uncanny ability to combine so many styles into one, continues to capture and intrigue anyone that listens. Orelias journey to emerge and breathe life into a too structured and stereotypical Industry is just around the corner, as she is working on her debut solo album. Orelia poses the question, Why am I an artist? Im an artist because I believe in music. I believe in its power to change minds, heal hearts, and brighten smiles. I love it, yep thats why.
