The Midway Delta

About Me

THE MIDWAY DELTA'S Martin Schneider and John Kontogianis have known each other casually for nearly 15 years, often running into each other at Bay Area local independent music venues hosting the best bands. They talked about playing music together many times and came awfully close in 1998 when Martin tried out for an open bass slot in John's band JOLLY. Martin chose to stay with his band at the time THE LIVING ROOMS only to see them fall apart several months later and after JOLLY were on the move with a new bassist. They made contact again when John sent an e-mail to Martin's Myspace band page for LIGHT SLEEPERS to catch up. His timing was good, LIGHT SLEEPERS was about to lose a member to the state of North Carolina and two others to another band. THE MIDWAY DELTA rehearses in the basement of a music store in Antioch, CA drawing inspiration from both the room full of lonely pianos above their heads and the rising and falling waters of the nearby Delta.
