Growing up in great state of Texas (Springtown), singer songwriter Gator Ryan is rooted in the simple yet diverse sound of the American South. After hearing the great George Jones' voice emanate from a record player at the age of five, the artist inside this artist was brought to life and began to appear within a few years. By the age of twelve, Gator was picking at the guitar and at fifteen had written his first song, a simple ballad about a beer-drinking alligator. During his years in the United States Marine Corps, Gator favored his friends with his music, and eventually the Alligator Song was sung. The morale-lifting ballad quickly earned him the nickname Gator which he performs under today.Gator Ryan didn't kick down the door to the Texas music scene, he simply played the doorman a song, and was given a table on the front row, although he is a man who prefers to sit at the back. Gator recorded his first LP near Possum Kingdom Lake, in an outdoor live set called "Campfire Songs". Within weeks of the album's release, which was mostly done over the internet, Gator's fans grew into the thousands. His musical impact on the Red Dirt scene has been felt across Texas and beyond.Gator's prolific song writing has led to the recording of his first studio album "Get Stationary", which will debut in the summer of 2006. Those who have been moved by his working-man licks and everyday sound will not be disappointed by the new record. "It's an honest record," says Gator, "It's who I am. The good and the bad." This new voice of the blue-collar man is sure to resonate in music the same way George Jones and friends' inspiration resonate in the sound of Gator Ryan himself
