MYSPACE IS DAMAGING THE MIDDLE CLASSES!

About Me

Hmmm. Been pondering on this whole myspace malarky for a while. Seems a little self indulgent to me, but HEY who am I to judge if I haven't tried it for myself.I am a girl. I have red (ish) hair. I like a lot of things. I'm extraordinarily open minded and will try most things once and many things regularly. In terms of my myspace usage, I don't tend to add people I don't know and I try to refrain from cold messaging strangers unless something about their profile really resounds with me. If you want to message me/request to add me, then do so by all means, but don't bank on being approved/replied to!Same goes for bands!

My Interests

Camping and the great outdoors: Starry skies + Fire + Sausages = Fantastic. Festivals are not the same as camping AT ALL / Fashion: Not high street by gods! Customising is the way forward. Latex. Vintage. Corsets. Heels. HATS HATS HATS! LOVE getting dressed up. Often found rummaging through piles of second hand clothes / Music: I am a musician. I like music. My entire lounge is a sea of instruments / Photography, architecture, literature, art, design. Don't know much about it but I know what i like / Horror movies: I am constantly looking for films that will sicken me more than the last / Cooking and Eating (NAY, FEASTING!): somehow I have managed to not be fat yet / Clubbing: Torture Garden. The Burlesque scene. Anything with a bit of glamour really, although give me good company and I'll dance around to any old shit in any old place / Cheese and Real Ale: Only a fool drinks pints of Stella / Environmentally friendly consumerism. Wasteful people make me want to kill them and turn them into compost. That'll learn 'em / Monsterland: An online version of Exquisite Corpse.

I'd like to meet:

Myself. 10 years ago. The things you learn eh?

Music:

I'm a jazz/blues performer so I like a lot from within that genre. I am in a band with my boyfriend and we are currently finding our feet. Watch this space. In terms of favourite bands, there are too many to mention. Worth noting are Jeff Buckley, The Hoax (sadly disbanded), Billy Bragg, Jimmy Eat World, Joana and the Wolf, Seasick Steve, Miss Kittin, QOTSA, Joy Division, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Goldfrapp, Jon Spencer, Heavy Trash, Liars, Son of Dave, Aerosmith, Interpol, Doves, Nina Simone, Nancy Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Radiohead, Idlewild, Joni Mitchell, Pulp (I Spy gives me shivers) Rolling Stones, Fischerspooner, Hendrix, Nine Inch Nails, Terence Trent D'Arby (Vibrator is a fantastic album), Clor, Kasabian, G'n'R, Peaches, KYLIE! I have a penchant for Death Metal, having been subjected to it as a wee lass by my older brother. And Hard House, thanks to Mr Shush. Aggressive music = good. I could list many more but I have other, more importanter, things to do. (I have a shameful admission. I like Lionel Richie. The intro to Dancing on the Ceiling gets me every time)...

Movies:

I love Asian Horror. Any films where people die in gratuitous ways. This excludes snuff movies though, which I do not like. And I like Disney, especially the Little Mermaid. Mostly because I would quite like to be a mermaid. I recently watched "The Company of Wolves" which I thought was wonderful. OH! And "Walk the Line" was phenomenal. I love Johnny Cash although that belongs under music I suppose. Just saw Hostel; nice idea but poorly executed, so to speak.

Television:

Is evil.

Books:

I am currently reading "The Crying of Lot 49" by Thomas Pynchon. I have misplaced "The Big Book of Porn: A Penetrating Look at the World of Dirty Movies", which I was reading. Perhaps I should ask my boyfriend as to it's whereabouts...Other than that I can't recall what I have read that recently.... ummm... Microserfs made me cry. I loved Sirius. I also think Roald Dahl is/was brilliant. Margaret Atwood ROCKS MY LITERARY WORLD!Other than that, much like my film tastes, I tend to like books that feature people dying (or getting laid it seems) in gratuitous ways. I've just bought a whole load of HP Lovecraft stuff which I am looking forward to immersing myself in. I shall let you know what I think.I used to read a lot on my commute to the demon that it work but, since I've started cycling, I don't have so much time to do it. My environmentally friendly ways have led to a major drop in my IQ.

Heroes:

My boyfriend (he saved me from becoming a fuckwit and we have jolly good fun together). My friends (for the ace times). My bruvvers (who are big and will beat people up for me if I tell them to. Maybe). And Bill Oddie (for being small and bearded). And Jon Snow (for the socks). And Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (for the meat).

Odd...

... posting pics of oneself online. I was only going to put silly pictures, but then decided I didn't want the [potential] entire myspace community to think I was some kind of schweinhund. 19 views. A...
