Hektor und Rositha

About Me

HEKTOR UND ROSITHA, the chanson duettessas from the old times who loved and lost and also worked a bit in the circus.
HEKTOR is the childlike accordion player, a gifted wizard of the keys who can make any jolly song sound sad just by the power of his mind. A runaway circus freak who met his destiny in the night gutters of france when he met up with the diva that is...
ROSITHA, a goddess in her own right who will hurt you and make you tremble when she slurs her anguished vocal lines in your face. She has the grace of the Himalaya with vocals that seem to come up from its deepest caves filling your soul with melancholy and agony.
The duo embarked upon a journey which has lasted forty years to the day, playing their sets in crowded smokey and undignified nachtklubs. Their moving performances have brought them many fans and created deranged weeping amongst audiences. Hektor, stolid and unhappy behind the childsize accordion accompanies his nemesise, Rositha, who "churns out vocals like a windmill grinds grain" (sueddeutsche zeitung).
Up until now there is one split single, "Purple Haze/Somebody's Watching Me" with Kamerakino and "Libertango" featured on the charity compilation "Rage Against Abschiedung" but recordings have been made laboriously and toilingly (but that makes music sound better anyway) in New York way back in 2002.
Now those tapes are being cut together through lots of sweat and heavy duty and an entire album to crush your heart will soon be released...
