R.I.P. to a fallen NYDM Brother...
Derrick formed Affliction in 2003 with Scott Mills and Tony Lovan, which later became Life In Shadow with the addition of Mark Jenkins on bass and Paul Wood on vocals. Paul parted ways with Life In Shadow but remained a strong supporter. He was replaced by Brian Idol. Derrick left Life In Shadow in June 2005 to take a break and look into the possibility of exporing other music.
He then formed Dirt Asylum in August 2005 with Ami Schneider, Phil Dollinger and Jeff Dale. Jeff was replaced by Mike Rauen. This is the point in time when Derrick becomes "Derrick the Dirtbag" They built a strong following in the short time they were together. But unfortunatly, all good things must end.
In mid to late 2007, Derrick the Dirtbag spent time as the guitar tech for the Chicago metal band, Dirge.
In December 2007, Derrick the Dirtbag relocated to Louisville, Ky to be with his relatives. He also had a vision of a new and fresh music scene allowing him to start over from scratch.
Derrick is currently working on several projects, most importantly is his main band, RUST and a metal/ jam/ southern rock band called DONKEY PUNCH.
Derrick the Dirtbag is a former member and president of the NYDM Ohio Valley Chapter which includes the states of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
In March 2009, Rev. Dirtbag parted ways with the NYDM to start his own heavy metal club in his own vision. This club was known as WAR BRIGADE METAL Co. In early July 2009 (unsatisfied with the logo, image, and direction of W.B.M.C.) he changed the name and logo. The new and current name of that club is HELLBORN BANDITS.
