Welcome, dear friends, to The Matchbox. Grab some penny loafers, a piping cup of Himalayan Chai, and your dad’s silk robe and come cuddle by the fire while I tell you a little about us.I first came on-board here in August 2006 after my nomadic three month stint in India, and my first thought when I entered the youth space known as “The Matchbox†was: “We seriously need to be having shows hereâ€. So in May 2007, after finally receiving clearance from the powers that be, we had our first Battle of the Bands, and it was a blast.Since that time we have hosted shows on a regular basis, simply trying to do our part in providing a safe and fun place for local bands to play, and for people in our neighborhood to hear great music and meet new people. The community that has been built here has been incredible. It has always been our belief and conviction to treat everyone that comes through our doors with love and respect, and not to shove our beliefs down anyone’s throats. It would be misleading to present that The Matchbox is merely a venue though. We also host a different brand of church services in our space every Sunday morning at 11am, and are actively involved in service and social justice in and around our community. The money that is raised through these shows goes directly into funding these ventures, as well as into the youth ministry in general. And to that point, all of our amazing volunteers give of their time freely, because they care deeply for music, for young people, and for this community. So come on by our little ghetto barn. The power may go out, the toilet may not flush, but we have high-fives galore.Ian Simkins

These are the restrictions that must be met in order for us to continue to do shows here, so please help us out.________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________We passionately believe in a God that has known and loved us since the beginning of time, and try to live in the grace, community, and authenticity that Jesus did. We will never shove our beliefs down your throats because we don't believe Jesus ever did, but if you ever have any questions about what we do, or simply want to talk, we're more than happy to do so.
