About Me

I started off my life in the music business playing in steel Bands at notting hill carnival with my dad who is from Trinidad. Later on I got into playing drum kit & then became a roadie for a few bands. At the age of 19 whilst working for an estate agents a friend bought a sound system from a company I used to work with as a roadie. I then started to work with my friend & his sound system as a sound engineer doing sound for illegal parties in the early eighties. At this time I also started to become interested in DJ-ing. Whilst work with the sound system was going well, I thought it would be a good idea to try & convince the company we bought the sound system from to get involved with the rave seen. At this time big sound companies were not interested in doing sound for raves. I went out & bought a mobile phone then started getting to work doing raves like Sunrise & Back to the future, Biology, Blast Off, Phantasy, Woodstock & many more. All of this time I was buying records & used to sometimes start off the raves or play at the end to cover dj’s that were late. When the establishment crushed the rave seen the promoters started to go into clubs. I then became a sound engineer in a club called The Raw for about 5 years. Whilst at this club I worked with many promoters, artists & DJ’s like Masters at work, David Morales, Kenny Carpenter, Terry Hunter, Harvey, Rhythm Doctor, Kid Batchelor, Paul Trouble Anderson, Norman Jay to name but a few. I also got into doing a bit of promoting like the launch of David Morales’s album the program at the Raw club with my mates Mickey & Kevin who was at the time managing Jamiroquai. (Great Party). We also promoted other nights like a reggae night with Dadae Harvey & Jazzy B from Soul to Soul also Joey Jay from good times sound. I also done a night called house of rhythm with the Rhythm Doctor where we had many big name dj’s play. The Raw then closed so I went to work as sound engineer in a club called the Iceni. Whilst working at the iceni the promoters of a night called pure silk were doing a Saturday night called spoilt for choice. I took over the residency from dj Fen & played with dj’s like EZ, Norris the boss, mj cole, tuff jam & many more. At this time I was also getting a lot of corporate work from people I had worked with over the years. I didn’t have a company of my own at this time, so I talked with a company & we started to do work together like the brit awards after show party & playstation events. The down side of working with a company that was not mine was they took all my work & cut me out. I then started my own sound installation, hire & sales company & am still running it today. Over the years I have worked with many other dj’s like Francois K, Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, & more recently done the sound for the London loft parties with David Mancuso, the list goes on. I am now & have been doing my own club night house of rhythm alongside a friend that promotes a night called club jocose for 3 years. At house of rhythm myself & my good friend dj Bones play a selection of soulful, latin, jazzy house vibes with occasional guest dj’s. We also have Drums of Freedom live percussion from my father, little bro luke & Danny. Not forgetting live flute from Drew Salida & occasional live vocals from Vanessa Freeman.
