About Me
I've been performing professinaly since 16, hit several stages in and around the Baltimore/DC metro area. I'm also a songwriter. Believe in your power to choose, you are the artist, and no one should be able to control what you own. Once you understand that, you will understand how much power you have in the industry. The industry is not here to love you, it is a business that is used to facilatate a commodity to a mass market. Having said that, KNOW YOUR BUSINESS, no matter what that may be, in this instance it's music. If you don't know even the basics of a record deal, you might as well sign it with a blind fold. A record deal is a business agreement that should be look at very meticulously, don't get excited about a record deal until you know the difference between a decent one, and a trap. The most I've ever signed is a finders fee agreement at a show I did, and even with those you have to be careful. No, I aint no self-proclaimed industry professional but I, like probably a lot of artist commin up, used to think a record deal was what I needed to make it, which in essence you do need some kind of industry facilitation, but you don't have to let them put a leash on your neck. There are a lot of different ways for artist to get noticed and have the industry knocking on your door.I'm in no way trying to blackball the industry at all, anyone with any legitimacy should want you to understand an agreement, but of course you would need an attorney to give you a more lucid interpretation. There are many good and legitimate people in the business, I know several of them and I'm thankful that I do. There's nothing no one can tell me in regards to the persuance of my dream, the feeling and passion I feel for music is one of the most beautiful things I can imagine, and that's what drives the engine. For all you who know that feeling you know there's nothing that compares, and you have no choice but to keep moving with it. Thanks for reading this, and I hope that I've given you a little insight that you could use in your own situation, stay blessed.
