About Me

What Famous Leader Are You?
personality tests by similarminds.com
My name is Adam Maloney. I am a guerilla multimedia drawer living in southwest Ohio. Commonly. I work on everyday found surfaces using cheap retail store bought materials, basically anything that I can get my hands on is utilized. The work tends to concern terrorism, a heroic struggle to rage against international injustice, and American consumerism. It also often concerns a lusty romantic pursuit of women, positively objectifying women as beautiful wholesale products. Frenzied and archaic two-dimensional compositions express simple themes and ideas. Working under the assumption that I am never finished, I constantly and spontaneously build onto every piece. Layers are built onto the work, creating a juxtaposition of various lines and shapes. Bold colors are combined with writing corresponding to the theme of the piece. The text instructs the patron, the consumer what the composition is about. Society’s cultural endeavors should be presented directly to the general public. In addition to exhibiting in gallery spaces, I like to exhibit my work in locations frequented by people who don’t commonly visit downtown galleries. By exhibiting in this manner, I am presenting my work directly to the public and reaching a wider audience. Displaying in these alternative spaces insists that people stop and take notice of the work. The work always strives to be socially relevant. An artist has a duty to better society with their creative skills. I want to be a valid member of society, and not someone who creates in order to entertain their own masturbatory pleasures. It is my obligation to make a positive impact on society. Art should be understood to be a necessity, rather than a luxury. Like Robert Rauschenberg, I subscribe to the notion that art, culture, and science are united in a single philosophy of life. I very commonly give my drawings away for free. Such pieces are given away as a social service, in an effort to subtly enrich people’s everyday lives. This personalized method of aesthetic promotion works to enrich society on a direct, level. The patron is then in total control of the composition, hopefully encouraging them to explore the readily accessible aesthetics of contemporary mass media society. Thus, my work is composed with the understanding that is disposable and won’t last forever. I am not striving for my work to have an everlasting archival value. January 2002, I was in a near fatal car accident. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and I was comatose for ten days. My traumatic brain injury gave me weakness and contracture in my left arm, hand, leg and foot. Following surgeries and extensive therapy, I am now using a cane to walk. In addition to high anxiety and depression, I have been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and bipolar disorder. Self-induced art therapy has been the key factor in my recovery thus far, giving me a means of both dealing with my disability, venting my anxiety, and the ability to make a meaningful contribution to society
