About Me

Get this widget! Tamera Bennett has been actively involved in the music and entertainment industry for over fifteen years. Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked for numerous music publishers in Nashville in the fields of copyright and royalty management and administration. Following three years as an associate attorney in the Intellectual Property/Entertainment Law Section of Decker, Jones, McMackin in Fort Worth, Texas, Tamera formed the Bennett Law Office.

Prepared with an undergraduate degree in Recording Industry Studies and a law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, Tamera represents clients throughout Texas in entertainment, intellectual property and Internet related matters. Her music business practice includes drafting and negotiating management, recording artist, and music publishing agreements. In addition to her practice in the music industry, Tamera represents visual artists and literary artists in the protection and exploitation of their intellectual property.

In the more traditional practice areas of trademark and copyright law, Tamera advises clients on the proper selection and maintenance of trademarks. Additionally, she assists clients with the protection and exploitation of their trademark and copyright portfolios.

Tamera has been published in the Texas Lawyer on the topic of entertainment contracts with minors and in the Texas Wesleyan Law Review regarding exclusive songwriter agreements. Tamera's article “2003 = The New Millennium for Copyright” on the topic of termination of transfers under the 1909 and 1976 Copyright Acts has been selected for publication in three resources: (1) the materials for the 2003 Legal & Business Aspects of the Film & Music Industries CLE; (2) teaching materials for the UCLA Music Business course; and (3) the September 2003 California Copyright Conference Newsletter.

Tamera is frequently asked to lecture on topics related to the entertainment industry and developing brand protection strategies. She is the current Chair for the State Bar of Texas' Entertainment and Sports Law Section. Tamera has served as an adjunct professor in the Music Business Program at Dallas Baptist University.

Katherine Stimson, Legal Administrator, received her Master’s degree from the University of Miami in Music Business & Entertainment Industry Studies. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Stimson received a BFA in Music from York University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in Toronto, Canada. While attending the University of Miami graduate program, she completed internships with Columbia Records’ digital marketing department and the copyright & licensing division of EMI Music Publishing Latin America. Katherine serves as the legal administrator for the Bennett Law Office. She has previously worked in corporate event planning and cruise ship entertainment bookings with the Suman Entertainment Group of Miami, FL.
