The Chandelier

A brilliant chandelier, so grand,
Dangled from a tattered strand,
Robbed no eye a stable glance,
Although it sat in slendor.

There it loomed above the floor,
And not a single eye adored;
An angel hovering above the boards,
As if hell bid it enter.

So woe to whom might cross its path,
When demon hands force its collapse,
And borrow your unmoving glance,
If death must be the lender.
