Kurtis Adams is a saxophonist, composer, and educator in the Atlanta area. Originally from Nashville, TN, he moved to Colorado to pursue graduate work in music at the University of Colorado. In addition to performing in the University Ensembles at CU, he has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, Ultraphonic Jazz Orchestra, Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and the 9th & Lincoln Orchestra as well as sharing the stage and recording with great local musicians like Pat Bianchi, Jeff Jenkins, Todd Reid, Brad Goode, Peter Sommer, and Paul Romaine. Kurtis has also been privileged to perform with artists such as Joe Lovano, Conrad Herwig, Jiggs Whigham, Tom Harrell, James Carter, and Arturo Sandoval. In 2005, Kurtis was named College Co-winner for Best Original Composition by Downbeat Magazine for his composition "Instable Mate?" and, in 2007, performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the Paquito d'Rivera Latin Jazz Workshop.
