Jetfly is a person and a band. He plays solo as Jet McDonald on guitar, vocal and harmonica and as a band with Jet on Guitar and Vocals, Hannah on Violin, Flute, Melodica and Harmonies, Si on Bass and Harmonies and Joe on Drums and Percussion. Originally born in the New Forest Jet has written hundreds of songs some of which, for lack of careful attention, have escaped and now live wild in the woods.
Jet is also a storyteller who has told his strange contemporary tales in lightbouses, boats, yurts, tipis, bookshops, crypts, theatres, pubs and powerstation youth clubs. In Summer 2008 he toured the West Country telling stories and playing songs in a little bell tent. In February he won the Missouri Review audio fiction award which is odd as he's never been to Missouri.
In Autumn 2008 Jet toured eleven Independent bookshops in the UK from Exeter in the South to Glasgow in the North with his solo music album "Quiet Songs for the Now Time" and story album "Huffing and Puffing" both released by Cleaner Records in Bristol.
The first three songs on the myspace playlist are fromthe 2007 Jetfly Album "Flockabilly", also on Cleaner Records. The songs "Open Hearted" and "Moody Brown Eyed Stare" are from "Quiet Songs for the Now Time". "The Colour of Petals" was recorded on the 8 track Rachael Dadd lent Jet in 2007.
Tom Hodgkinson author of "How to Be Free" and "How to be Idle", has described him as a "modern day minstrel". Jet prefers Revels. The raisin ones.
