I am a fan, promoter, and manager of music in Liverpool and beyond. My induction to the music business came way back in summer of 2002 when I assisted in the delivering of the latest incarnation of the Industrial Metal Band CENTRAL DENSE, and subsequently managed them for the best part of 18mths going on to win Alternative Nation Battle Of Bands in September 2002 and most notably playing with 7yrs Dead,Panic DHH, and Fulc. Through my work with them I quickly became aware of the majority of the other local metal bands in the scene as it was pretty small then. Many of whom continue to thrill crowds today.
In 2003 whilst spending alot of my spare time busy with the launch of the Music4life.biz website, I began work as a promotor of my own nights in and around the myriad of venues Liverpool has to offer. In 2004 I launched the rock night MAXIMUM EXPOSURE showcasing bands such as Central Dense, Metro Manila Aide, Multi Purpose Chemical, Zuprowski Connection, Hollowpoint, Fayte, Obsolete, Ji, Pierpoint, Second Nature, Ogun, Atonal, Soviet Underdog, and Signified to name but a few. This was done under the banner of @nomaly Presents ltd and coincided with my first forray into the Dance genre with the Progressive House night EVOLVE. Around the same time I was fortunate enough to meet DJ Aspect, a long standing DnB head from back in the day in the Roni Size/Bryan Gee Bristol era. He went on to become my partner, DnB resident, and technical support in the Techno and DnB night VORTEX. Through which I was able to work with some of the best underground DJ talent in the city such as Relik, Freethinker, G-Roc, Terry Mcclean, Bucky Digital, Filth, Stu Bradley, Brendan Long, Dave Majik, Wes Hart, and gave the first breaks to Siren, Ritual Specialist, Miss Rita(rushing Beats Crew), Andy Paton(live), and Will Davies. In March 2005 I ceased being a promoter and took a step back from the whole scene for the best part of a year for a much earned rest!! However, the pull of the potential of the Liverpool Rock Scene was too strong, and in November of the same year when I was approached by my good freinds and gigging stalwarts the mighty ZUPROWSKI CONNECTION to be their manager, I understandably jumped at the chance! In the Summer of 2006 i was approached by Andy Paton, now half of the magnificient Organic Dance collaboration that is KILLAFLAW, and I have been looking to further their cause as the next new thing to come out of the Liverpool Dance Scene in any way i can ever since! Check them out in my top 8 and see their site for upcoming shows and tour dates!I was then pleased to announce that my ecclectic stable of acts continued to grow and prosper further with the addition in Autumn 2006 of the Electronica/Breakbeat/Drum n Bass creation of the former Central Dense frontman KNL - CONTRAPTION. We debuted this ground-breaking sonic assault in early 07' and WILL be back at a venue near you soon, so watch this space...February 2007 saw me taking over the running of the Liverpool side of the ANNIHILATION NIGHTS. However, As of 2008 there will no longer be any here in Liverpool. It is not through any lack of interest or commitment on our part. Nor is it down to any lack of quality metal acts wanting to play. Far from it in fact as there is still a huge untapped wealth of talent out there. It was purely down to the frankly hugely dissapointing response from the local Liverpool scene to the offer of FREE Quality Metal once a month!!!
The York, Leeds, and Notts nights where our efforts are more appreciated will continue on however, so see the main Annihilation Night's page for more info.....After the successful trial run of a new live electronica night 'SINEWERKS' in Februaury of 2007 myself and my co-promoter decided to keep it going. We were regularly showcasing the finest live electronic machine music that the scene had to offer every few months in the Zanzibar, Liverpool. Although things have gone very quiet on that front, it is not the end! We are planning to come back soon bigger and better than ever with some big names in the pipeline, so watch this space. Once again we guarantee you won't be disappointed!!In April 2008 my already extensive and diverse selection of Live Underground Music Showcases expanded still further to encompass the more Extreme side of Metal. With the trial and subsequent establishment of regular Live Extreme Metal night 'OBLITERATION'. If Thrash, Black, Death and Doom are more your thing then get yourselves down the front and bang your heads til your ears bleed!!Check out my pics for a broad over-view of the story so far as told by the few flyers and images i have found from the 200+ shows i have been involved with over the past 5 years! This is far from definitive as much of my work with bands has involved setting up supports with touring bands at the varied venues in the city, and there are too many more nights to mention that i simply don't have copies of flyers for!!I really wish i could fit more than 24 people in my 'top freinds' section but i can't so don't feel bad if you're not on there! It doesn't mean i am any less impressed by the rest of you! In fact, I have been overwhelmed by the number of quality acts out there that have approached me since the inception of this site, and will be showcasing many of them in due course. I look forward to working with many more in the future! Are you one of them? Watch this space for the rest of the story!!
