My dear friend Nick Lewis a.k.a. DJ ImpacT passed away on Saturday February 2, 2008 at the age of 31 - he will be dearly missed. Nick was a staple of the Illinois house scene, guiding dancefloors with his music selections in bars, clubs, and all sorts of other dance events throughout the state. But more importantly than that- he was hands down the friendliest, most respectful person I think I have ever met. People gravitated towards him wherever he was, and he always seemed to be friends with everyone.
On a personal note, Nick helped me tremendously as a DJ- he helped me in getting many gigs both in and outside of Champaign, and he helped me to grow as a dj in terms of technique and selection. He always had some kind of constructive criticism for me after all my sets!
House music has lost a true artist in DJ Impact, but what he contributed to his art, and his scene will never die- Peace Nicky
