SaltyWalt & The Rattlin' Ratlines

Sea Chanteys for a new generation.

About Me

Salty Walt and The Rattlin' Ratlines see their friendship as the foundation of their performances, believing that nothing is better suited to camaraderie than sea music.Representing the kind of impromptu musical groups which would form at the forehatch of a ship - using whatever instruments, voices and talents were on hand - this San Francisco trio uses strong call and response as well as unique harmonies to bring to life their repertoire of traditional American and British folksongs, Sea Songs and Chanteys.I come from a strong "traditional music" background, but I'm out here on the interweb thingiee because I know nothing stands still . As the music of the people changes, so do the ways it's previous expressions attract people. You see we are also into the new Celtic stuff and Punk as well, and I'd love to find some bands who'd want me to visit for vocals on a couple of songs. . .Voted "Best Sea Shanty Band in San Francisco" by a cool local paper:http://www.sfweekly.com/bestof/award.php?oid=oid:17289 1&section=&year=2006
