Since graduating from leading arts institution, Falmouth College of Arts in 1996, Illustrator James Mayall has gone on to develop an exciting and contemporary graphic style of work.
Following a successful career as a senior designer in a London based consultancy, James’ passion for his illustration work prompted him to work on a freelance basis, giving him the freedom to pursue the work he enjoys most.
Music is an integral part of James creative process and his main inspiration. His current commissioned work reflects all that is new on the underground music scene in London – album artwork for jazz and hip hop fusion group ‘Bussetti’, online development for turntable soul favourites, ‘Belleruche’ and part of the creative team for Digital City, a groundbreaking collective of musicians, DJ’s, artists and filmmakers of the UK’s electronic underground.
James most recent work includes an illustration that accompanies an article about the author Greg Palast for the Big Issue (London Edition).
Artistic inspiration can be found in the work of American artist, Chuck Close, Englsh illustrator and artist, Ian Swift, and urban graffiti artists, 3A Crew, Case, Dephect, Swet and SCA Crew.
James also DJ’s at various parties
and venues around London.
