About Me

My Interests

Various and sundry. Martial arts, medieval weapons, costume design, videogames, videogames (it had to be mentioned at least twice), game modding, drawing, painting, writing, hiking, 4-wheeler riding, wildlife rehabilitation, people with really goofy senses of humor, action movies, music (especially really ethereal, relatively unknown stuff), just about any religion that has ever graced the planet, photoshopping friends, traveling, sculpting, collecting unusual costume jewelry, exploring stuff, fark, anime, etc.Oh, and ninja. Don't forget the ninja.

I'd like to meet:

In no particular order... His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Siddharta Gautama, Stephen Hawking, Jesus, Loreena Mckinnett, Mowlana Jalaluddin Rumi, Rainer Maria Rilke, Thomas Merton, Shigeru Miyamoto, Hayao Miyazaki, Jackie Chan, Bruce Campbell, Leonardo da Vinci, Sophocles, Muhammad, Lao Tzu, Albert Einstein, Mohandas Ghandi, any of my mom's dad's family, Shi Huang Ti... and others.

Music:

Peter Gabriel, Loreena Mckinnett, Sarah Mclachlan, Sarah Brightman, The Corrs, Kristy Thirsk, Norah Jones, Dido, Enigma, David Arkenstone, The Eagles, Mike and the Mechanics, Angie Aparo, Peter Cetera, Rod Stewart, U2, Sting, Phil Collins, Don Henley, just about any anime and videogame music, the Warriors of Heaven and Earth OST, Mark Cohn, Martin Page, Secret Garden, Afro Celt Sound System, Delerium, Miriam Stockley, Singh Kaur, Faye Wong, Jolin Tsai, Frou Frou, and many others.

Movies:

Anything really funny, really scary, or really full of good martial arts. And also the occasional sappy thing or two as well (a la Moulin Rouge).

Television:

I rarely watch television. When I do, it's usually one of four things -- a movie on HBO (and/or the Real Sex program when it comes on -- it's pretty cool), something on Cartoon Network, something on G4/Tech TV, or CNN. I'm more of a gamer than a television watcher, anyway.

Books:

Anything religion-oriented (you name it, I've got it), art history/technique books (I'm on a manga kick right now), humorous books (The Far Side collections rank up there, for instance), The Divine Comedy, books about paranormal phenomena, National Geographic, modern fantasy books, The Lord of the Rings (the study of Quenya once dominated my life for about six months), etc. Will name more when they come to me.

Heroes:

People who can find balance in all things. People who give their lives for others, regardless of whether the saved party deserves it or not. People who strive to make good on their promises. People who fully accept responsibility for their actions. People who weep for lost love, but never let it break them. People who smile even when they're down -- sometimes that makes all the difference to someone else. People who are honest but kind. People who possess the kind of wisdom that puts you at ease in their presence. People who understand their connection to everything else, and work to maintain it. People who do silly little self-deprecating things to try to make other people feel better. My friends, in varying ways. They are all like jewels. My incredibly lucky family. My spiritual teachers, living or dead. That little boy that stopped the other day to help me pick up some stuff I'd dropped, for no other reason than because he saw a chance to be helpful. And, of course, others.

My Blog

You can make a full day out of doing nothing.

In the past two weeks, I've had something like ten days off from work.  A pleasant little vacation on my part.  However, I've found how incredibly easy it is to fill a day up with doing noth...

So I got a Wacom tablet...

I've recently decided to try my hand at the webcomic thing.  While sketching out a couple of the comic's main characters with my mouse the other night, I realized just how time-consumin...

Guild Wars

Okay, I've been playing Guild Wars for a full week now. I must say, it's highly awesome. It's beautiful, has an intuitive menu system, challenging gameplay, and one of the friendliest user bases I'v...

*strettttch*

Had a good night last night. Drank with some friends and got really giggly over some Halo. I mostly watched, except when I was trying to harass my brother's friend Matt via the mike. "VELVET HAIR...

Hellooo Morrowind (and hiya Angie Aparo, too) ...

Sick. I've had three days off from work. Not scheduled off days, but call-ins. I've been gifted with some kind of deranged, hellspawn headcold since last Tuesday, and I'm more than ready for it t...

A myspace account, indeed.

Apparently I now have a myspace account. Praise be to Allah, or something to the effect. I don't know who my mysterious benefactor is, but so long as I have it, I might as well use it. Though I s...
