I currently live in a very terrible place. It would be a lie if I said that I was in NYC by choice. The fact of the matter is that my extreme, shameful and arguably criminal negligence is the only thing that brought me here. Only I can be blamed for the chain of events that now have me serving an indefinite sentence in this labyrinth. I understand this and am attempting to repay my debt to society by fighting the good fight downstate. What could I have done to deserve such a terrible position in life, you wonder? Well, it's difficult for me to own up to my failure--my voice wavers, my palms sweat, and, no matter how many times I attempt to, confessing doesn't get any easier with time--but in order to earn your forgiveness, kind reader, I must confess: I lost a badminton match to a man from South Jersey! The details of that fateful night are irrelevant, as you well know. The only fact that remains, that keeps me up at night, but also keeps me going, is that until I earn forgiveness through unceasing, diligent work, I can never go home.
