About Me

The story of Effluence, a.k.a. Buckets & Dimes began in 1987. While in a jail for smuggling 227lbs. of potent, high grade, cross pollinated, level 4, class A, British Colombian cannabis sativa across an international border, a 27 year old "Buckets" was forced to bunk with an aspiring ghetto hood rapper named Dimes. Dimes was in for parole violation. Allegedly, Dimes was caught being pleasured in his station wagon by an elderly prostitute. This being is 87th arrest, the judge threw the book at him sentencing him to 1 year in jail and 1000 hours community service. The two inmates often butted heads, but quickly became the talk of cell block d. The two would make beats with everyday items, such as trash cans, pencils, toilet paper rolls etc., all while rapping and singing over top. As part of their community service, the duo entertained local soup kitchens, retirement homes, and rehab clinics. With such a positive response from the community, the judge reduced their sentences and released them into the general public. They toured the globe spending years in Amsterdam and Egypt. Acquiring a cast of characters from across the globe, Buckets & Dimes put together an all-star line up for their self titled debut album. After being taken advantage of by record producers their entire lives, the two did all the recording themselves in secret undisclosed locations under the influence of ridiculous amounts of hallucinogens, narcotics, alcohol and prescription meds. The final product, still yet a work in progress, has become an underground classic among true heads. The album is impossible to find, allegedly because big record companies bought up all 50,000 copies (released on Buckets & Dimes independent label) and destroyed them to save "commercial hip-hop". The record execs knew that if this underground juggernaut got to the ears of their "mtv kid " crowd, they would realize all the stuff on the air and on television was bunk and never purchase their "one good song, all the rest filler" cds being mass marketed and sold for $15.99 (making the executives rich and giving the artists next to nothing). The suit's plans may have worked had not these 4 tracks been found in a Buddhist colony on the other side of the planet and leaked to the internet. Although B & D have not been seen in 8 years and have been pronounced dead by the F.B.I., somehow new music of theirs keeps popping up on the internet and on hipsters and backpackers' ipods alike. if you see buckets or dimes, do not approach, as they have been deemed mentally unstable and dangerous to the general public by psychiatric doctors in the latter 90's. Just be thankful you caught a glimpse of almost unknown hip hop legends, the likes of which will never be matched.~~Rory Peterson~~ NDR_GROUND Magazine
