In high school, Trineice Robinson played piano and percussions in the jazz and concert bands, and began developing her skills as a vocalist. This Oakland, CA, native was invited to perform, as a "Youth Patron of the Arts," at the 1997 Oakland Jazz and Blues Festival, and shared the stage with established artists including Eric Benét, Etta James and Gerald Albright.
Robinson recieved her Bachelor of Arits in Music (emphases in Improvised Music Studies) from San Jose State University, where she was a feartured vocalist with the Jazz Band and Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble. She developed the university's first Gospel Jazz Ensemble, which was inducted into their school of music curriculum. She was also the featured soloist with the University's Alumni Chorale on their 2000 summer European Tour.Robinson received a Master's in Jazz Studies at Indiana University in the Fall of 2004, where she was a featured vocalist in the Indiana University Jazz Ensemble with world-renowned music educator, David N. Baker. Robinson completed a second Master's degree in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia Univeristy, and it currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
She has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the International Association of Jazz Educators conference (with the African American Caucus Jazz Band, and also with the Willis Kirk Orchestra), and has been a featured performer with the Bloomington POPS Orchestra.
In addition to David Baker, other mentors include Donald Meade, Mary Ann Hart, Katherine Cartwright, and Ed Thigpen.
