My Interests

Music:

Band Website: theinsurgents.co.uk
Band Members: Alex Jones (tall one with straw-like hair, reminiscent of Worzal Gummage) and Jaime Franks (looks like Kenny Everitt)
Influences: More inspirations than influences, starting with that "you're the best around, no-ones gonna ever take ya down" track from Karate Kid, gave us both the impetus to confront the school bullies and even today helps us when negotiating fees with the big bad promoters (who were the bullied kids, ironically), James Murphy & DFA Records, Thomas Schumacher, Gomma, Bloc Party, Rough Trade, The Young Ones, !!!, Systematic Records, "Staring at the sun" by TV On The Radio, all Jean Claude Van Damne/Steven Seagal/Eric Roberts movies, Erol Alkan, Soulwax, Ricky Gervais, the French who do it so much better - Daft Punk, Justice, Kitsune records etc, Digitalism, Gorillaz, Napolean Dynamite, Felix Da Housecat, Louis Theroux, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Scott Hardkiss, Trash, Alan Partridge, cool Australians - Cut Copy, Modular, Friendly and er... Jaime's wife, City Rockers, DJ Shadow, Paul Epworth, Spaced, "Munich" by The Editors, Simian Mobile Disco, 20/20 Vision Records, Bugged Out, Stuart Price, Touche (more tricks than any DJ we know), Ableton, Breakbeat records circa 98 - 01, Games Workshop and all the Trev's, Dave's or Lee's in Ben Sherman shirt/Stone Island jumper/Reebok Classics combo, asking aggressively"D'ya 'av' any funky 'ouse mate" - an inspiration to us all!
Sounds Like: When DJing expect a bastard hybrid of full on electro, quirky grooves and a bunch of other stuff...
Type of Label: None
