The All New Genetically Altered Jug Band

About Me

A Washington DC Area Jug Band that provides toe-tapping entertainment that is FUN for all ages. Featuring novelty songs of the 20th Century, the band performs both obscure oldies and lively original tunes. We specialize in humorous music with a slightly off beat twist and have performed at the Austin Grills (Silver Spring location) Sunday Brunch, the Washington Folk Fest, the Folk Society of Greater Washingtons Mini-Fest, the Downtown DC Holiday Market, and the National Zoos Sunset Serenade and ZooFari.

The band's Cicada Song was one of the featured recordings on NPRs All Songs Considered Open Mike in May of 2004, and was also broadcast on Mary Cliffs Traditions radio show. Other original songs include "There's a Fungus Among Us", and "Ben Laden of Araby".

Shows are tailored to the occasion.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.geocities.com/angajb/
Band Members: Special Ed. (Ed Light) on tenor banjo, guitar, vocals & sound effects. Since migrating to the DC area from West Virginia, Ed has appeared in a variety of traditional jazz and novelty ensembles

Bags. (Richard Howard) on trumpet, vocals, & harmonica. Bags has been featured in a variety of notorious Area outfits including the Thunder Jug Boys and the Barrelhouse Brawl. The Riverside Carnival Band is Bags' traditional jazz/dixieland band that is also available for events (410-320-7895).

Rockin’ Ron the Promiscuous Percussionist. (Ron Goad) on washboard and all things percussive. Born in an elevator in a Front Royal Va, Ron has worked his way up to become one of the premier percussionists in the DC region. He plays around a bit and you may see him providing a good back beat with a number of other bands from time to time (usually of the very pretty female persuasion).

Gutbucketeer. (Jim Bunch) on washtub bass, jaw harp, jug, moose, crow, and duck calls & other weird noises. A Texas native, “Gut” made his washtub debut on the streets of Ann Arbor.
Sounds Like: Spike Jones, Hoosier Hot Shots, Jim Kweskin Jug Band, R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders, Washboard Rhythm Kings, The Memphis Jug Band, Gus Cannon AH Jug Stompers, Harlem Hamfats
