INITIAL 028 ENOLA "WORDS IN A BOTTLE"
In 2008 we released two mindblowing Detroit styled EPs by Noirdegout, two guys from Besançon: “Late Night Cities”, and “A Frog on the Beach”, acclaimed by many djs & journalists who still follow the sound of original techno.
Matthieu Monnin aka Enola is one of the guys, and he’s now completed a full length album for us. If you take Noirdegout’s trademark motorcity fuelled sound, pitch it down a little, make it a little less nostalgic, and turn into a full on 2009 production, you get ENOLA.
First extract of his forthcoming album Alone, Words in a Bottle sits right where we like to sit: at the border between house and techno. It’s got the funk, the rhythm, the tribal beats and bassline that make you move. And its got the techno soul too. Its got the devil inside, but still feeds your mind with atmospheric waves of deepness.
On the flipside, it’s also a matter of a member of a band gone solo: Rodriguez Jr is one half of French techno celebrities The Youngsters. On his own, he delivers the kind of remix you usually dream of but are never sure you’re gonna get. It’s a funky dark techno affair, with a killer hook.

INITIAL 027 PIERRE LX "GABITA" OUT ON FEBRUARY 2009
Pierre LX is a French deep house producer based in London.
He had graced our first INITIAL + release with his melancholic wonder “Madeleine”.
To start off 2009, we are offering his first proper 12’ release on Initial Cuts, with 2 deep cuts in true circa 95 old school Chicago style. Influenced by the sound of artists such as Ron Trent or Chez Damier, and labels like Balance/Prescription, Pierre grants us with the sunny “Sketch Drive”, and percussion led “Gabita”. 2009 is not looking that dark after all!
Also, we have asked old school/new school US house legend Dj Jus-Ed to produce a remix of “Sketch Drive”. The result is a deep houser’s dream track, pure US style deepness.
