I graduated highschool in '91. I spent the next 10 years partying, playing in heavy metal bands, and trying to make music a career. I had been in quite a few bands, though the one I was most proud of was Etheria. We had quite a bit of fun running around the country doing shows and seemed to be moving in the right direction with a great response to our music. Unfortunately, our debut album was left unfinished do to issues within the band. Differences could not be ironed out and the band and vocalist seperated. After 10 thousand dollars, and no singer in line to replace him, things began to look grim. When 9/11 hit I started rethinking some things in life. I started my talks with an army recruiter, and by 2003 was off to basic training. After receiving my education on how to be a combat medic, I ended up at Ft Wainwright, AK with the 172 Stryker Brigade, 1-17 infantry battalion. I deployed to Iraq in august of 2005, and spent a year patrolling the streets of Mosul (northern, Iraq). 3 days before my plane back home, the 172nd was extended and I spent another 4 months with the unit in Baghdad. I've finally made it home in December to enjoy the holidays with my wife. Things there are much different then what I had expected. I always hated the news industry for their twisting of the facts and their doom and gloom, but one thing I can say for sure, is that what is going on over there is *nothing* like the media reports itI love being a medic, and am working towards getting a higher education in the medical field.
