About Me

With topics such as the fear of water, sleep deprivation, and burning down amusement parks, it’s fairly easy to get lost in the songs. For Consider This Your Evergrace, music is more than just a place of recreation but also a state of mind in itself. "It's just an outlet to showcase what else I'm made of, cause if you know me then you know the comedian in me, but the music makes it capable for everyone to take a step back, look, and listen to my other voice, because in today's world it's fairly simple to judge someone by what they look like and not for who they are."
Consider This Your Evergrace is a compilation of songs spanning from the last two years. The opening track on the ep, “Talagang Beisbol”, despite the comical title of the song, is based upon a time in his life when insomnia was a common routine. “I remember this one week, where I wrapped myself in a blanket, made a playlist off of Itunes with just three repeating songs, and I watched the television, but the haunting thing about it was that I never bothered to turn the television on.” The crowning point of the album, “The Fire That Burned Belmont Park” was written in early summer 2007. The main theme of the song was to set aside all the problems of everyday life: not being able to eat for days in order to pay for bills, balancing school and having two jobs without owning a car, and driving north three hours in order to visit an older brother who’s been in prison for the past five years. In order to set all of these the best remedy was in the company of friends, primarily through bonfires at the local beach. The closing song on the ep is a ballad directed to his bestfriend and girlfriend. “There are little hints in this verses about when she and I had met February of 06’, and in the chorus it’s a more current depiction of how I felt on prom night this year.”
Although the music scene in San Diego is having a sudden decline, Jeff Vanwinkle is not one to leave his talents in the attic. Music can be a healing space and overall a home for relating to the very problems they sing of. Jeff Vanwinkle is not trying to change your life, he can only hope but to inspire in the only way he knows how, so take a step back, look, and consider this your evergrace.
