IT WAS FUN PLAYING MUSIC TOGETHER AGAIN HOPEFULLY WE'LL DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME.....TOURING, LA, AND VARIOUS PROJECTS/LIFE ADVENTURES HAVE SEPERATED US FOR THE TIME BEING...HOPEFULLY WE CAN FINISH THAT EP WE STARTED WITH HUGHES AND WE CAN MAKE SOME MORE MAGIC! LOVE U GUYS! DB****Originally formed in 1998, TripStar's unique sound results from the combination of talented artist with diverse musical backgrounds. They play crunchy, anthemic guitar rock! Full of sweeping time changes and spacey harmonies.From the beginning.... their were two principle writer's in the group the mysterious Bryan Hoskins, whose songs were moody and dark, with vocals that soared above, and songster Donny Besancenez, adding his cosmic flair to their artsy, pop gems. Their were many TripStar family members along the way, early on Mike Gregory, Mike Flynn, Adam Thacker. The lineup including Todd Smith and Mark Oyarzabal, recorded their 1st full-length record "At the Instar Motel" and won RFT awards for best pop band 2002 also being nominated 2003. Their were also friends such as Tony Persyn, Steve Higdon, Derek Bayer, Dave Alans, Jeff Lehman, Mike Clement, and Jeff Schunk who lent their talents to the band. The final lineup was a promising one featuring Jeff Church and Bill Wheeler, they completed the 2nd record "Guardian's Soap" which was never released. In the end, their was alot of beautiful music made, but for Donny and Bryan, TripStar was more than just music, it was a way of life, heart-felt emotions that were real, friendships gained and lost and sometime regained. As one of those members I will cherish that time as the best time of my life.
TripStar as a band passed in 2003. But many new faces evolved out of this band, Bryan - RED EYED DRIVER Donny - MY OTHER SIDE. You can find the other mates sprinkled around in bands such as EERO, Cactus Smile, Honeytribe, Formula Kid, Lord Baltimore, Second Hand Sex Toys, The Lab, John Dear, and Brandy Johnson. This site is mainly geared to keep the music alive and to let everyone know whats happening in the present~Hope u dig!
