Lumatic plays music that is both sweet and edgy, fusing elements of ambient pop and experimental rock into dreamy songs that keep you awake. The songs are built from subtle layers of guitar, rhodes, strings, accordion and samples, and interlaced with infectious rhythms and moody female vocals. The band was formed by singer Katherine Miller after she graduated from Oberlin Conservatory and met bassist Jason DiMatteo in New York City in 2004. Through a labor of love, the two of them co-produced the debut album for the band, calling upon some of the best underground musicians in NYC to bring it to life. The Lumatic family includes John Bollinger, Pete Smith, Chris Buono, Ty Citerman, Shahzad Ismaily, Franz Nicolay, Maxim Moston, and Marlan Barry.
