Whether out of mere whim or fate itself, at age 16, singer/songwriter Jessie Brune, grabbed her father's yamaha and sat in her room for hours strumming her first ever chords on a guitar. "It was purely out of impulse. I was bored one day after school and decided to teach myself guitar. I didn't know it would soon become my greatest passion." At 18, taking a more traditional route, miss Jessie attended a university in Los Angeles to study music theory. However, during weeks and weeks of music studies, she discovered her heart was being called elsewhere. Instead of analyzing the chord structures and melodic progressions of other artists and composers, Jessie was undeniably ready to create a name for her own music.
Packing her bags once again, Jessie moved back to her roots in Roseville, California, only to face another set of challenges. "I had to go against what everyone's good judgment was in this town. I've always been that girl who has big dreams, but no one ever really believed I would go against the grain to pursue music as a way of life" But after proving herself over and over again at live performances, and sharing the stage with bands such as Meg & Dia, Quiet Drive, This Holiday Life, Sherwood, and Action Reaction, no one could deny Jessie of her irresistible presence on stage and her engaging personality.
Jessie Brune has grown into a vocal powerhouse with emotionally driven melodies, and a maturity beyond her years. "I write about things that are real, in hopes that those who hear my songs will know that they are not alone. Looking back on the happiest and saddest moments in my life, it is music that reminds me that I can either celebrate with others or cry with them. I want my music to be an experience, bringing people eye to eye." Whether her lyrics are edgy and cutting, or joyful and exciting, Jessie writes in a way that every audience, young or old, can relate to, and even dance to!
With two music videos under her belt, directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Panima, the Scene Aesthetic, My Former Self) and the support of her family, friends, and beloved fans, Jessie, now 20, is excited to get in the studio this fall to release her debut EP.
