When watching Thom Kirkpatrick (aka ‘This Beautiful Noise’) perform, some might say "it's hard to find adjectives to describe [the] sound," at least this is what PJ Wright (Dylan Project) thinks. But this is ok. Some sounds, some music and some performers don’t need to be labelled, categorised or described in depth. This is especially true of Thom Kirkpatrick; words could never do justice to describing the music. It has to be heard.
The Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival Guide even called Thom “amazing. “... [T]his exceptional young musician left us all wondering if he might just be someone famous [already]. [He]…must not be underestimated as a singer songwriter."
Leamington based singer-songwriter Thom Kirkpatrick is swiftly establishing himself and his one man band across the country. 'This Beautiful Noise' is a formidable live act; not simply strumming through with an acoustic guitar, Thom builds his arrangements live as he goes, adding synth, percussion and vocals with each passing phrase. A 21st century one man band.
The music is layered in such a way that it cries out for repeated listening; an acoustic and organic experience, fascinating to watch, with subtle elements of electronica; exploring human themes of loss, trepidation, time and age.
Take all this and add the utterly involving and mesmerising experience of watching Thom Kirkpatrick; one of those rare finds, a singer songwriter with a genuine sincerity, matched only by his talent and passion of performing. An experience Martin Carthy (Chester Folk Day) heralded as simply “excellent".
