Johnny Arthur

The Sloth

About Me

Resident at London’s now infamous techno shindig Chicken Nickers, at just 24 years of age Johnny Arthur has already played alongside the likes of Paul Woolford, Jennifer Cardini, Martin Landsky, Ellen Allien, Alex Smoke and Magda. But time and time again it’s his closing set of deep and emotive, driving techno that becomes the real highlight of the night. When off deck duty Johnny’s busy whipping up a storm in his own ‘Bunker’ studio – August saw Cologne’s prolific MBF, launch their new digital offspring to the tune of his blistering Double A-sider Johnny Hates Jazz and Red Planet - the first fruits of an arsenal of fresh meat feverishly waiting in the wings.

But that’s not all. 12 months after gracing DJmag’s ‘gotta be big feature’, Arthur’s now emphatically secured his position as the next ‘gonna’ be big thing - bagging the latest instalment in their acclaimed live:at covermount series. Recorded at Herbal for his native Chicken Nickers, the hour long mix represents his most exciting work to date. Uniting future gems from today’s most vital techno luminaries with choice morsels from his own next generation productions; all displaying a skill and cunning that punches way beyond his years.
"Johnny Arthur is one of the best up-and-coming DJs I've heard. Playing a constant thread of resolutely off-its-chonkers music with a leaning towards the unpredictable, he can't go wrong. Good work, young man!" Paul Woolford
"I've listened to lots of young DJs during my time as Editor of DJ Magazine, but Johnny Arthur has something special. A real talent with the potential to go stellar." Lesley Wright
"Johnny Arthur is a wicked DJ and will go a long way. Excellent choice of records, cool order and top mixing. He's also got a great attitude which is very rare these days." Jonathan Lisle
"I've heard him & he's fucking wicked." Quinn (differentGear)
