Ten years ago, Maurice Love formed what was to be the "Band of ALL Bands." With the finding of drummer, Lamont "Lights Out" Laywell, " a man who beats the skins like no other, they set the sights on a young and prospering star that fell. Lionel Frampton filled that void. Still...something was missing, and when they found Tito "Cool Breeze" Rodriguez and his ivory ticklin' fingers, they KNEW that the giant disco ball in the sky could spin for eternity! Upon finding time between his active role as a porn star and aspiring supermodel, TC lays down the Punk Funk, "in yo' face" bass groove like a TRUE disco god. With a rock-solid band, the only thing that was missing was a voice of gold. Discovered at Maurice Love's 17th Bachelor Party, Dee-licious, the singing strip-o-gram, awed and stunned The Electric Chick Magnets with her sexy moves and sultry voice, prompting them to add her to their disco arsenal.
Maurice then knew that he was only one member away. It was at the "Wetlands Preserve" in New York City where he saw the light. It shined in the form of , Reverand Poncherello. It was clear to everyone from that point on, The Electric Chick Magnets were destined to become..."The Only Disco Sensation!!"
Over this time, The Electric Chick Magnets have claimed the title of being the "Best Dance/Cover Band" by winning a SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music Award) in 1996 & 1999,2004..AND..by being voted the "Best Local Band," by the Syracuse New Times in 1998 & 1999,2002 They have also opened, performed, and headlined with many National and Regional acts such as, KC&Sunshine band,Three Dog Night,
Vanilla Ice, Envouge, Seduction,C&C Music Factory, Expose,Taylor Dane, Lisa Loeb, Eddie Money, Johnny Cash, G-Love and Special Sauce, God Lives Under Water, 2 Skinny J's, and Dread Zeppelin. Along with there weekly N.Y.C. gigs the band has traveled the entire state of New York as well as 32 states in the U.S. including Hawaii.
