Once upon a time a tiny creature named Ksenia banded together a group of friends with whom she could create art with. One of the goals being to stop waiting for the cultural district of our town to open their venues and resources to all the amazing talent in the area that was getting overlooked and instead, storm the gates to do it ourselves with the support of one another and the support of our friends. Thanks to places such as Accolades Gallery in Ventura and Architexture Salon and Spa, also in Ventura, the Girlillas have manged to put together several one night events that have included visual art, musical expression, and performance art. We recently moved into the renovated Bell Mattress Factory/Bell Arts Factory on Ventura Ave where we have a gallery space that was opened for the first time on July 22nd 2006. The goals now are to build a strong foundation through our gallery showings and collective creative events to be able to open up this venue to more who create and want to share.
