Don't come near me; I go crazy in the Fall.

About Me

Aside from being crazy, I enjoy cooking soup and bread, eating chocolate, running very long distances, and climbing mountains and rock walls.

My Interests

rock climbing, hiking, mountaineering, traveling, reading, writing, attending university, running, music, show going, eating good food, making good food, wine, chocolate, cheese, amatuer photography, painting, drawing, England, Scotland, Vancouver B.C., conversing, Indian food, vegetarian cooking,

I'd like to meet:

Chet Baker *sigh*

Music:

Magnetic Fields, Chet Baker, Sondre Lerche, Kings of Convenience, Rufus Wainwright, Starflyer 59, The Cure, The Smiths, Feist, Emiliana Torrini, Sigur Ros, Pedro the lion, Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, Jon Brion, Decembrists, Modest Mouse, Weezer, Sufjan Stevens, The Shins, Jimmy Eat World, Belle and Sebastian, The Killers,

Movies:

I Heart Huckabees, Baraka, Amelie, Moulin Rogue, City of Lost Children, A Very Long Engagement, Delicatessant, Life of Brian, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Rushmore, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Les Miserables

Television:

It sits there, menacingly glaring from its focal corner of the room. Like a big, black eyeball it threatens people walking by to flip it on, buy into its bright colors and bombarding images. Let me numb you, it offers. It alone has the answers for filling that emptiness that surfaces with dead silence, the emptiness found in the nightmares of dreams. Let me dream for you, take away your pain, overstimulate and numb.
Uncomfortable with the silence of my own inadequacy and the hostility of its blank surface, I click the machine on and turn to the next new fix.

Books:

Too many, too many to list. If you want a recommendation, message me and let me know what mood you are in. Moods are important when reading literature. (I will never recommend Bridget Jone's Diary or the Da Vinci Code)

More on Autumn

I wrote this ditty at the beginning of a rather sarcastic and cheesy story, but I liked it so much that I couldn't dispose of it with the rest of the work (printed, shredded, burned, ashes scattered a...

Consider this: Pumpkins instead of Pigs

I had my first real day off, living in my apartment in Vancouver, Washington. It also turned out that today was the last Sunday in October, the last Farmer's Market before spring, and the poster-child...

It's coming off

If I do Peace Corps or NOAA, I'm shaving my head. I'm so done with hair.

Sometimes

Sometimes I realize some stuff. Little things that I remember but never should have forgotten in the first place. Remembering them again is like a small epiphany, a break in the clouds. When I stopped...

Mystery of the Universe: Part 1

I was eating breakfast this morning and contemplating the packing peanut.  What is it made of? Where does it go? Why can they not be recycled? Who makes the blasted things?  I started thinki...

On Jobs, Work, and Careers

What does it all mean? Why am I busying myself with school work? If I say it is for that higher paying job, I've fallen into believing a great lie. Most likely, I will earn my degree before continue...
