Stretch Silvester has been producing house music in all its guises for over twelve years. You probably know him already from the many tunes and remixes which have been lighting up dancefloors and radio stations all over the world. His various guises have taken him from the dizzy heights of playing to over a million people at the Berlin Love Parade to Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion and from the Space terrace (a former Manumission resident) to Radio 1 Essential Mix.
Stretch has had Pete Tong essential new tunes under different aliases (Stretch & Vern, Coloursound, Sucker DJ's and Paradise Soul) and has produced and remixed for mainstream and underground names from the likes of U2 to Candi Staton and Sia to Felix da Housecat. He has released music on labels FFrr, Hoojchoons, Wall of Sound, City Rockers and Junior Boys Own to name a few. His success on Toolroom and Kinky as Sucker DJ's was repeated this year with the release of Killer/Fresh on Anjunadeep. Last year saw a release on Rebirth records under his EssenVee moniker with partner in crime Jay P (aka Vern), and have just signed a twelve track album deal with Pieces of Eight records.
He has been busy in the studio for the last eighteen months tirelessly producing tunes championed by Sasha, Seaman and Nick Warren (Thom Yorke 'Eraser' S&V Remix and Kings of Leon 'Milk'). He has been busy completing albums for Stretch and Vern, EssenVee and foremost his personal labor of love Stretch Silvester 'Better With You'.
'Faith' is Stretch's first solo outing in twelve years featuring the dulcet tones of PJ Higgins (think Eartha Kitt meets Julie McKnight) on a string laced emotional roller coaster of two halves. It started life as an instrumental piece signed by label boss DJ Shield (Rebirth Records) and has evolved with persistence and perseverance for a summer release. His inspiration comes from the vocal disco of Larry Levan and Danny Krivit (Paradise Garage and Studio 54). The house element is heavily influenced by François Kevorkian, Masters at Work and Massive Attack (The Wild Bunch), emulating emotion of lost weekends at the likes of Boys Own Faith parties and Secret Sundaze. Stretch has produced a full vocal version that reflects his optimism for house music, a dub for deeper floors and an instrumental that keeps it raw.
