Reda Ray was born in Casablanca Morocco.
Reda's career started with singing at Marriage Ceremonies and in school for
National Holidays.
In 1984 Reda's oldest brother, Khalid, organized a group of musicians in
Morocco where Reda was the lead vocal of the band. They began performing
traditional Moroccan style music in festivals and concerts. Reda has
performed various styles of Arabic Music which consists of Classic Arabic,
North African pop, Middle Eastern, and European (French) music.
In 1985 "Rai" became a popular style of music in North Africa which
influenced Reda to create his own unique style of "Rai". Then in 1990 he
participated in a popular TV program called {Mousica}, he then performed
personal favorites by "Ray Singer Hasni". In 1996 he had a second appearance
on Moroccan National Television and sang one of his own created versions of
"Hob el awl".
He then came to the United States in 1998 to pursue his singing career. In
2000 he started performing in restaurants and nightclubs to give audiences a
chance to become familiar with his style of music. This led to Reda's first
big accomplishment in headlining at the Boulder Theater in January 2002, and
had a radio spot on "KGNU" with a program called "African Roots'. KGNU
Music Director, Elaine C. Erb stated "Cheb Reda is a Denver based singer who
covers Cheb Mami, Khaled and others and puts on a fun, danceable show." In
2005 Reda was chosen out of many participants to travel to New York to
record an English Duo for "Dadoo Productions".This year 2006 has been Reda's greatest success in his music career.
Panchanga Colorado sponsored Reda's New CD Release Party at one the hottest
night clubs in Denver "The Church" the turn out was a great success.Reda's New CD consists of a mixture of Arabic/Latin Rai Music .Reda's cd was
produced by Mario J. Romero and Arabic musical influences by Chakib Hilali.
They have focused on collaborating different rhythms from Arabic Rai, Salsa,
Reggatone, Hip-Hop and Rock with different background musicians adding their
own flavor of singing in English, and Spanish.
This creation of CD has led to other opportunities for Reda to perform with
one of his background artist "Desiree Sanchez" on Hip-Hop's hottest radio
station, "KS 107.5" on a program called "Local Love".Reda is now focusing on promoting his New CD by venturing out to other
States, and Organizations. by :debra vega floris
